Quakers seek the divine in everyday life — in one another, in silence, and in action. No creed, no clergy, just a commitment to truth, simplicity, equality and peace.
Our meeting house, built in 1706 — Grade II listed and little altered in three centuries.
Meeting for Worship is held every Sunday at 10:30am. There is no need to book or belong — simply arrive, take a seat, and settle into the silence.
Three centuries of worship
The present meeting house on Vicarage Street was built in 1705–6 on land given by Thomas Loveday. Its wooden panelling, wooden benches, and unhurried simplicity have changed remarkably little in three centuries.
Visitors are always welcome at our Sunday meetings. There is no need to prepare or belong — simply come as you are.
